Ähtäri Homeland Museum
Ähtäri Homeland Museum is located in the village of Hankavesi and it’s a part of the building that was separated from Hankola’s main house in 1802. In the 1770’s the building served as chaplain’s rectory. The current main building was probably built by the owner’s blacksmith Heikki Heikinpoika Hankola who was the owner from 1772-1790. Later between 1933 and 1952the building was used as a call center. After this house was transferred to the Ähtäri Society in 1959. The museum began its operations in 1960. The beautiful buildings located to the museumsyard area have been brought there from different parts of Ähtäri.
